How to Become a Christian
Four things you need to know to become a Christian.
1. God loves you.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life."
2. Everybody sins and our sin separates us from God.
Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death (eternal separation from God) but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
3. Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins so you could have eternal life. He is the only way to heaven.
1 Peter 3:18 "Christ died for sins once for all ... to bring you to God."
John 14:6 "Jesus answered, I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me."
4. You can receive forgiveness for your sins and have eternal life by praying and asking for it.
John 1:12 "To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
1 John 5:11-12 "God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
You can become a Christian right now by praying a prayer like this: "Lord Jesus, please come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life."
The Bible promises that if you pray that prayer, God will give you eternal life and forgive your sins.
We can be confident in knowing that God wants to save us from our sins because God tells us that in the Scriptures.
Revelation 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will go in and eat with him, and he with me."
John 14:14 "Jesus said, You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
