Christmas Project 2019

Calvary Christmas Project 2019

Since 1975 Calvary has been helping Lexington families celebrate the joy of Christmas! We are so excited for the outreach opportunities provided by the Christmas Project. Please see below for all the important dates, volunteer opportunities, and ways to contribute to Calvary’s Christmas Project.

Donations

On December 21 st the Calvary Christmas Project families are invited to shop for clothing, toys and household items when they come to receive their food and gift boxes. Your “gently used” children’s toys, housewares and clothing are very much appreciated by these families. Clothing should be laundered, in good repair, and placed on wire hangers . Toys should be clean and undamaged. Small games and puzzles need to be bagged; complete with no missing pieces. Household items, electronics, furniture and appliances must be clean and in working order.

Also needed are new packages of underwear and socks for all ages. Disposable diapers and Pull-up training pants are also requested.

Donations may be dropped off in the basement of Calvary’s Education Building 2 now through December 18th .

With donations already coming in, we need volunteers on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 pm to help with sorting and organizing in the EB 2 basement. Contact Missy Sanders with questions about donations and sorting help at 859-948-7896 or via email.

Volunteer Help

Sorters for Donated Items

We are receiving donations of clothing, household items and toys daily. We need people to help fold, hang, sort, and box these items on Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the EB2 Basement (October through early December).

Gift Wrappers

Gift wrapping will begin December 4th in the EB2 Basement. We need groups representing the Deacons, Youth, College Ministry, Sunday School Classes, and the Women’s Ministry to pick a time to help wrap the children’s “Wish List” gifts. We will wrap on Wednesday and Sunday evenings starting at 6pm.

Refreshments for Christmas Project Distribution Day

We need cookies, brownies, and candies to serve the families that come to pick up their gift boxes on Saturday, December 21st.

Christmas Project Distribution Week Crew

Plan now to be at Calvary on December 18th, 20th, and 21st to:

● help move items from the EB 2 basement to the ROC

● unload food and prepare the grocery boxes

● meet and greet the Christmas Project families

● deliver gifts and food boxes to families unable to pick up their items

● help with clean up.

Email Missy Sanders at furmanvida@gmail.com, Margaret Ann Smith at margo1080@yahoo.com, Scott Simpson at ssimpson228@twc.com, or Maria Harrington at rmharrington84@gmail.com to sign up today.

Monetary Contributions

Contribute financially with a special offering.

There will also be opportunities to purchase a gift from a child’s wish list.

Pray

Gather to greet and pray with families on December 21.

Pray now and throughout the Christmas season for Calvary’s Christmas Project Ministry and the families who will receive assistance, as well as all the volunteers helping share the good news of Jesus Christ.
